Coordinator AL – Ihsan Orphanage Foundation, Ahmed Hassan Adams

 explained that the orphanage home has been in  existence for over 20years. The late sister hajiya Hauwa Salisu was the founder and they have after her death kept her vision alive.

Many children he said have passed through the orphanage and are found in various profession.

“We have grown up children here. We have those that are married and some are even working in different profession like in the military, airforce , navy, immigration, etc. Over fifty students have passed through this orphanage Once in a while they pay visit and every month contribute to the development of the center . He said.

Over forty- five children reside at the orphanage. There are others from outside the foundation cater for. He added.

Interestingly, his children and that of the workers attend same classes with the children of the institute. A very rare practice which NASFAT Acting Missioner, Ustaz Abdulkareem Mustapha commended.

Responding to a question as to whether there had been a case whereby someone came forward to lay claim to a child in their custody.

The answer is ‘No’.

“We have not because there are procedures before you receive a child. Immediately a child is brought here, we hand the child over to the ministry of Human Services and Social Development. So we don’t have any consequences or any reason to border.

This is why we make sure we abide by all the stipulated rules and regulations of the ministry.

He explained procedures with which one can use to adopt a child.

Adams is calling on the government and well to do in the society to assist orphanages in order to lessen their burdens.

Orphanages have continuously help government in taking away the children off the streets therefore need both financial support and slots ( for work) to keep them going.

Mallam Ahmed Hassan Adams is the Chairman, National Association of Orphanages in Kaduna state.

Sister Qauweeyat Suleiman Aliebiosu of the youth wing of NASFAT was part of the visitation.

According to Qauweeyat, a student of the Fort institution, she was there in fulfilment of her project in Basic Leadership Development Course.

She educated the ladies on personal hygiene. How to take proper care of themselves particularly when they are under mensis.

Pack of sanitary pad was donated as her contribution.
