The Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society (NASFAT), Kaduna Main Branch, has emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence and mutual understanding among couples as key ingredients for a successful marriage.

This call was made during the branch’s annual Women’s Week Celebration, which featured a series of activities including special prayers for widows, fasting, visits to a primary health care center, lectures, and an interactive youth engagement session under the platform “Women Connect with the Youth.”

Speaking at the event, the Women Affairs Secretary of NASFAT Kaduna main Branch, Hajiya Medina Salawudeen, urged women to play active roles in maintaining harmony and stability within their homes.

She appreciated the efforts of the branch executives, committee members, women of the society, and donors, with special recognition to the ‘Friends Unite Association’ for their continuous support.

Hajiya Rashida Dumoye explained that the Women Connect with the Youth platform was designed to empower young people economically and spiritually, and to reduce family-related challenges. She lamented the increasing rate of divorce, attributing it to lack of understanding and communication between spouses.

The central theme of the programme, “Peaceful Coexistence in Marriage,” focused on addressing challenges faced by couples and exploring solutions rooted in Islamic teachings.

During an interactive session anchored by former Women Affairs Secretary Hajiya Kudirat Akinwale, participants—comprising mothers, fathers, and youths—shared their marital experiences and lessons learned.

Speakers highlighted that Islam is a complete way of life providing guidance for all aspects of existence, including marriage.  Couples they emphasised must approach it with patience, tolerance, and open-mindedness

Akinwale cited Quranic verses and Hadiths of the Holy Prophet emphasizing that marriage is a sacred institution ordained by Allah.

The Prophet said, marriage is his tradition and “whoever refuses to get married is not part of me”.

She  stressed on the need for couples to live in harmony.

The Acting Branch Missioner, Ustaz

Mustapha Abdulkareem, also elaborated on the Quranic responsibilities of husbands and wives. He reminded men that Allah has appointed them as leaders of the home, charging them with the duty to care for their wives—providing food, clothing, and shelter, while treating them with kindness and respect.

Similarly, he reminded women of their responsibilities toward their husbands, as guided by Islamic teachings. These include maintaining chastity, obeying their husbands in all lawful matters, and praying for their wellbeing.

Speakers throughout the programme stressed the importance of effective communication, mutual trust, and emotional control in sustaining marriages.

They noted that many homes collapse due to poor communication and misplaced priorities, and urged couples to know and respect each other’s personalities, likes, and dislikes.

The event concluded with a collective call for couples—both married and intending—to build their relationships on solid foundations rooted in Islamic principles, understanding, and mutual respect, as the surest path to peace and lasting harmony in the home.

Earlier, the acting Chairman, NASFAT Kaduna main branch, Alhaji Suleiman Aliebiosu in his speech had commended the women for their laudable programmes. He urged them not to relent in their efforts to promoting the religion Islam.
