The Nasrul-Lahi-l-Fatih Society (NASFAT), Kaduna Main Branch, has called on the Muslim Ummah to approach the holy month of Ramadan with renewed commitment to personal reflection and intensified worship in order to attain spiritual elevation and divine rewards.

The charge was delivered during an online lecture themed “Preparing the Heart for Ramadan,” where the Zonal Missioner of NASFAT Kaduna, Imam Maruf Alabi, described Ramadan as a sacred opportunity to strengthen one’s relationship with Allah and foster unity within families.

Imam Alabi emphasized that beyond fasting, Ramadan serves as a period of deep spiritual cleansing and self-assessment. He urged Muslims to reflect on their acts of worship, including the observance of daily prayers, engagement in dhikr (remembrance of Allah), and consistent recitation of the Qur’an.

“Ramadan is meant to purify our hearts,” he noted. “It is a time to examine our deeds and renew our commitment to what pleases Allah. We must consciously prepare our hearts before the month begins.”

While highlighting the spiritual intensity of the season, the cleric cautioned against social withdrawal. He explained that Islam encourages a healthy balance between devotion and social responsibility, stressing that Ramadan is not about isolation but about nurturing both faith and family ties.

Addressing parents, Imam Alabi urged them to guide their children throughout the fasting period, ensuring they engage in beneficial and spiritually uplifting activities. He advised against indulgence in unwholesome entertainment, encouraging instead educational and Islamic content that reinforces moral values.

He further reminded Muslims of the importance of charity and feeding the needy during Ramadan, describing acts of generosity as pathways to increased spiritual reward. According to him, the ultimate objective of the month is to cultivate Taqwa—God-consciousness—while remaining actively engaged within society.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is observed by Muslims worldwide as a period of dawn-to-sunset fasting in commemoration of the revelation of the Qur’an.

As one of the five pillars of Islam, it calls for abstinence from food, drink, and sinful behavior, with a greater focus on prayer, charity, and spiritual growth.

In recent times, NASFAT Kaduna Main Branch has sustained a series of online lectures aimed at promoting moral and spiritual development within the community.

The Chairman of the branch, Alhaji Suleiman Aleibiosun, described the initiative as part of the society’s broader mission to positively impact society and raise awareness about NASFAT’s activities.

The branch’s programs align with NASFAT’s institutional philosophy anchored on the “L.E.A.D.” framework—Leadership with humility, Empowerment with purpose, Agent of Change with responsibility, and Da’wah with integrity.

Commending the initiative, the Zonal Chairman of NASFAT Kaduna Main Branch, Alhaji Saheed Popoola Gambari, lauded the innovation and encouraged members not to relent in their commitment to advancing Islamic teachings and community development.

He expressed optimism that the continued educational series would further strengthen faith and promote positive contributions to Islam and society at large.
