Barrister Zainab, who led a coalition of women’s groups, stressed that women remain a formidable force in Nigeria’s electoral process, consistently demonstrating commitment at the polls regardless of challenges. She noted that their unwavering participation underscores the need for their voices to be adequately represented in governance.

She further emphasized that the movement marks a shift from mere appeals to firm demands for inclusion, adding that women across the country are united in pressing for immediate passage of the bill.

According to her, the petition and related advocacy activities are part of a coordinated nationwide effort spanning all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, highlighting the urgency of addressing gender imbalance in Nigeria’s political landscape.

Responding on behalf of the lawmaker, Dr. Umar Abubakar Sambo, Deputy Chairman of the governing council, commended the women for their courage and commitment to advancing a critical national issue. He acknowledged the pivotal role women play in elections and governance, noting that their contributions deserve greater recognition.
