National Youth Games: Kaduna Outshines North West Zone, –Claims 10 Out Of 16 Tickets

Kaduna North-West Nigeria:
Team Kaduna blazed off with a perfect spirit ahead of the National Youth Games (NYG) billed for Ilorin, Kwara State next month, by claiming 10 out of the 16 tickets available for team sports from the North West Zone.
Kaduna claimed both male and female tickets for Volleyball, Beach Volleyball, Hockey and Football, making it eight clean sweeps in both categories.
Team Kaduna also smiled away with tickets in female Handball and male Cricket, leaving other six states to settle for the six remaining tickets.
Jigawa won the male basketball and female cricket tickets, Sokoto settled for boys Handball and Kano claimed boys Rugby ticket.
Female hockey and female rugby are two events that the zone would not be featuring because no state fielded teams at the eliminations.
The Zonal eliminations which lasted for two days was held at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium and supervised by the Zonal Coordinator, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mr. Olusola Luke who ensured, proper screening was held to ensure only eligible athletes featured.
Those that finished first in all the events featured would be representing the zone at the University of Ilorin, venue of the Youth Games, which has hosted previous three editions.
The maiden edition was in Abuja.
The Director of Grassroots Sports Development, Dr. Ademola Are when reacting to the outcome with our Sports correspondent, expressed satisfaction.
He assured that all arrangements have been concluded in ensuring a hitch free hosting of the fifth edition of the NYG.
