Kaduna State House of Assembly Confirms El-Rufai’s Nominee

The Kaduna State House of Assembly has in an emergency seating, on Wednesday screened and confirmed Governor El-Rufai’s nominee for the appointment of Commissioner for Water Resource.
The confirmation of the commissioner followed a motion moved by Kassim Illiyasu Alisawa representing Zaria city which was seconded by Bashir Gateri Idris representing Lere West constituency.
Speaking after being sworn in by the governor in an interview shortly after his confirmation by the house, the new commissioner, Dr. Ibrahim Hamza, a former Director General Kaduna State Facility Management Agency, (KADFAMA) who took over from Engr. Suleman Aliyu Lere said, priority attention would be directed to perennial water shortages being experienced in Zaria and other areas across the state.
“As we all know, government is a continuous process. Just recently, there had been a pr-commissioning of the Zaria water project. In my capacity as the new commissioner for water resources, I hope and intend to continue with the good job of the former person in charge of water resources and ensuring adequate water supply.”
The Chairman House Committee on Information, Nuhu Goro in his own words had charged the new commissioner to live up to expectation as well as ensure the completion of the water project.
“We urge you to as soon as funds are made available ensure the completion of the project in order that each local government has portable water”.
The house is expected to resume its normal plenary session on Tuesday, the 16th of January, 2018.
