New Leadership Emerges As NLC Women Committee Conducts Election

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Women Committee Kaduna State today elects new leaders to run its affairs.
The election which took place in Kaduna had members from different unions in attendance.
The conference comprising members from various unions had 49 delegates in attendance. All together, six positions were contested for.
Speaking, the returning Officer Comrade John Adaji who is also the  President National Union  of Textile Garment and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria (NUTGTWN), called on the new leadership to remain committed to moving the committee forward.
He commended Comrade Martha’s leadership style which has led to her re-election.
Speaking with journalists he said the 
NLC recognises the role of women, the more reason why they have been very supportive.
No society he said should undermine their role because they are critical in nation building.
Also speaking, comrade Adamu Ango acknowledge the role of women while charging that they take the activities of the committee to greater level.
God he said gives position to whom He wishes while urging the newly elected officers to be committed and focused in the tasks ahead.
He charged the house to remain united in fighting it’s course for the house that is divided amongst itself cannot stand. He said.
Contributing, the Kaduna state  NLC Chairman, Comrade Ayuba Suleiman  challenged the new Exco on the task before them. He encouraged them to do their best in the discharge of their duties.
While fielding questions from journalists shortly after the election, the newly elected Chairperson expressed  commitments commitments  moving the committee forward.
She said her second tenure will be geared towards attaining more progress and actualization of activities.
As to what she wants to do differently in this tenure, she has this to say.
“What l want to do differently this time around is to push for the activation of  the issue of six months maternity leave for women that has been on for sometime now. We want to ensure that this comes to life.” She promise that all necessary efforts will be made to ensure that Kaduna State Government implements it.
The conference re-elected Comrade Martha Banki Chairperson, Asmau Bala emerged the vice Chairperson, while the post of Secretary went to Mary Audu Madaki, Assistant Secretary Jayeola Olatunji, and Grace Magaji , Mary Koma as exe officials.
