NIGER STATE TRUST FUND: SSG COMMENDS FOUNDING FATHERS
The Secretary to the Government of Niger State (SSG), Ahmed Ibrahim Matane has extolled the invaluable contributions of the founding fathers of Niger State Trust Fund (NSTF).
Ahmed Matane disclosed this when he received documents of the landed property of the Fund which signaled the winding-up of Niger State Trust Fund.
In a statement issued 6th August, 2021
signed by the Information Officer SSG’s Office,  Lawal Tanko, and made available to newsmen,
“The SSG recalled that the Trust Fund was established to assist in the development and promotion of industrial, agricultural, educational and health programmes that will benefit the people of the State regardless of ethnic, social, cultural or religious affiliation.
“He commended members of the Trust Fund for their zeal, commitment and sacrifice towards the progress and growth of the State, assuring that Government would optimally utilize the property inherited.
The statement also disclosed that
Mrs. Mary Baba who represented the Chairman of the Trust Fund before presenting the documents to the SSG, earlier in her remark explained that
“the Niger State Trust Fund was established on the bedrock of committed Nigerlites who resolved to move the State forward.
“Mrs. Baba told the SSG that the handing-over of the document to the State Government brought an end to the activities of the organization which were mainly humanitarian.
The statement further added that “the Niger State Trust Fund (NSTF) was conceived by the Economic and Social Council of Niger State in 1988 during the administration of the former Governor of the State, Col. Lawan Gwadabe.
“The NSTF was later launched in April 1989 with donations from the State and Local Governments, indigenes as well as friends of the State.
