Success of Savannah, Atlantic Volleyball Leagues Excite Nimrod, Appeals For Sponsorship

President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) has expressed joy over the success being recorded at the ongoing volleyball leagues at the Savannah and Atlantic conferences.
He expressed this while fielding questions from newsmen at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Indoor Sports Hall, venue of the Savannah Conference of the league on Wednesday, while calling for corporate sponsorship.
Nimrod, who also was elated by the standard of play, is positive that the outcome will translate to better international outing for Nigeria in the nearest future.
“As you can see, there is excitement here. Not just here, but even at the venue of the Atlantic Conference. What we desire to see soon is the coming of good sponsors who can take advantage of the maximum publicity they would be getting as well as contributing to making it even better, ” he said.
The NVBF President also commended the officials for fair officiating and the athletes for high level of discipline on and off the courts.
Meanwhile, in results of matches for day four gathered as at time of filing this report, Kano male team came back from defeat to Plateau on Tuesday to trounce Niger 3-0.
For a breakdown of the results, they won the first set 25-14, while subsequent sets were won 25-23 and 25-20 respectively.
The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) maintained an unbeaten run by beating Plateau 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-15).
Hosts Kaduna also recorded a much needed win as they beat Spartans of Adamawa 3-1 (16-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-18).
In the last male match of the day, superiority of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) was not in doubt as they trounced Willi on Bauchi in three straight sets.
They won the first set 25-20, while the second and third ended 25-14 and 25-16 respectively.
Female matches for the day were ongoing as at time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, action continues on Thursday at the same venue.
