Kaduna state Beach Soccer Association as part of its efforts in developing sports in Kaduna state has appealed to the Governor of Kaduna state,   Mallam Nasir el-Rufai to make available the clay courts at the Murtala Square  to the association in order that it can be used to develop Beach Soccer Game in the state.

This appeal was made by the Chairman, Kaduna State Beach Volleyball Association, Engineer Musa Nimrod during the maiden Kaduna  Beach Soccer Clinic for Coaches,  Referees and Players which was  held at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna  over the weekend.

“Kaduna Beach Soccer Association is a group of people of similar interest who came together and said we should make Kaduna home of Beach soccer. I am pleased we are starting today with a clinic, targeted at the grassroots.

If provided with courts, there would be massive turn-out of people. He assured.

“Allow us to use these courts and you will see massive interest. We are not saying construct for us, we would construct it by ourselves.

“In Murtala Square, the government gave us a court but it has been taken over by horse riding. But we are appealing to Kaduna State Government and Governor Nasir el-Rufai  to assist us to use the clay court for tennis which has not been used since 2009”. He said.

Engineer Nimrod had expressed optimism saying, with the necessary support from relevant stakeholders, the game of Beach soccer would be one of the top sports in the state.

“We would   attract huge followership. I am assuring you after this we would have a lot of support. We are pleased. My desire is that NFF and Kaduna FA will give us full support. He said.

Nimrod’s dream is to see Kaduna state becoming home of sports. He explained that the association is starting with the clinic after which they would embark on other ways of promoting sports.

“We would go ahead to source for equipment. We thought of a clinic first to create awareness before talking of competitions.

Asked on how he felt, he has this to say.

“I am really impressed. I am satisfied with the turn out. I am assuring you immediately we finish this clinic, we are moving out for creation of awareness.

“We can use sports for grassroots development”. He added.

While speaking, the Coordinator of Kaduna Beach Soccer, Coach Abdul Isa said that 160 participants registered for the clinic. He is of high hopes that the clinic would make the game more known in Kaduna State.

“We have two resource persons that will take the participants on important aspects of the game. He informed.
