Kaduna NUJ Chairman Bags Abia Indegene Award

The Abia state Indegene Welfare Association Kaduna today the 2nd of October, 2019, had confered an award of excellence on the Council Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kaduna.
This was disclosed by the association’s President, Chief Patrick Lawson while on a courtesy visit to the Council.
According to him, the visit which was to also seek the collaboration of the press on their forth-coming Abia Day Cultural Festival coming up on the 26th of October, 2019 would serve as a platform to officially present the award of Excellence to the chairman.
“We are formerly here to say well done to you people. You  are doing very well and should continue to do the very best you know how to do.
“We want you to partner with us to make our Abia day cultural festival a success.
Ibos are very good people and the Abians very accomodative.
Mr. Chairman, l say congratulations.

Earlier in his welcome address, the NUJ Chairman, Comrade Adamu Yusuf while appreciating the association for the award given to him assured them of the council’s collaboration.

“This award is not only for the Chairman, Adamu Yusuf, nor FRCN nor members of NUJ Kaduna but for the whole journalists in Nigeria.
“NUJ Kaduna is one. Nothing like Yoruba, Hausa or Ibo. This is a symbol of unity.
The Council is ready to partner with your association and any other association.
NUJ Kaduna is blessed because all  the media are well represented here including Online. He said
Adamu promised to be physically present on this great day.
Speaking, a two term Council Secretary, Chief Dominic Uzu expressed delight over the gesture.
He said, the Ibos in NUJ have been good ambassadors of their people as they have proven themseves worthy.
“Here is home away from home. In this place, journalists are one. We don’t know whether you are from Abia, Enugu,Bornu Kano. We are just one. We project this country as one.
He thanked them for considering NUJ Chairman worthy of the award.
Mr. Chimeze a two term  Correspondent Secretary said they are united in NUJ Kaduna.
The Ibos in NUJ he said have conducted themselves well  saying, amongst are three of them who have held offices both at Counncil and chapel level. Apart from him being Correspondent Chapel’s Secretary and Chief Dominic, Council Secretary, Mrs Juliet Oyoyo was also a 2 term Chairperson, Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ).
“I see this award as a call to service. To whom much is given, much is expected.
The committee led by the elders have decided that the NUJ Chairnan deserves an award.
This shows that whatever one is doing, there are people watching. Congratulations.”
Contributing, Mrs. Juliet Oyoyo promised support from their own end.
