Kano: Creation of New Emirates,  Court Adjourns Case To April 9

A state high court sitting in kano has adjoined a case between Alh Bashir Usman Tofa, 20 others and Kano state government to 9th of April 2020 to rule on a preliminary objection filled by the Attorney General of the state, Ibrahim Mukthar.
In the suit filled by Alh. Bashir Usman Tofa and 20 others, before Justice Nuraddeen Sagir challenging Kano State Government over the creation of four new emirates in the state.
The Counsel to the plaintiffs, Suraj Saida sort the court permission for his clients to settle the case out of court amicably. 
He said that his role is to ensure that full reconciliation is observed between the 2 parties.
In his response, the Kano State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice,  Ibrahim Mukhtar opposed the reconciliation step by the plaintiffs, he  said the business of the day is to hear his application challenging the locus standi of the plaintiffs in the suit.
Presenting his application, attorney general argued that Alhaji Bashir Tofa and other 20 plaintiffs have no legal power to represent over 15 million of Kano citizens.
He prayed that the court should dismiss the case for lack of sufficient interest and merit.
While also responding, counsel to the plaintiffs, Suraj Saida argued that his clients  filed the suit in tandem with the section 21 of the Constitution of federal republic of Nigeria and Article 17  of African Charter of Fundamental Human Rights.
Justice Nuraddeen Sagir has adjourned the case to 9 of April to rule on the locus standi of the plaintiffs in the suit.
