2019 Election: Arewa Youth Consultative Forum Kaduna Partners NUJ

…Condemns Negative usage of youth

A delegation of Arewa Youth Consultative Forum were today, Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Council (NUJ) Kaduna on a courtesy visit.

The visit according to the Chairman, the leader of the Group, Alhaji Ramalan Umar was meant to seek collaboration with the media as election is already gathering momentum.

Ramalan, speaking on the state of insecurity had expressed worries over the usage of the youths by politicians in carrying out dubious acts. He described the act as worrisome and called for the assistance of the media in orientating the youths  against being used.

Their Forum he explained is devoid of tribal inclination as they are, ‘one people facing challenges together’.

“Election is coming up and we have all seen the way our youths are used negatively. To misuse your youths rather than using them positively the way they can assist themselves and assist the public is unacceptable.  Politicians misuse them.

“These challenges if care is not taken can destroy them. So how can we join hands to see that we eliminate these bad activities within our society? This is the main reason why we ask for this courtesy visit.”  He said.

Responding, the Chairman of the council Comrade Adamu Yusuf expressing regrets over the unhealthy situation had assured the union’s willingness to partner with the forum. He said NUJ Kaduna is one of the vibrant Councils in the country as every media is fully represented.

In his call, government he said should look into curbing the menace by giving priority to youth related issues. Youth development he considers the key to the crisis.

Adamu said providing job opportunities as well as educating the youths would go a long way to solving the problem as education remains a perimeter to judging a country’s development. He ended.
