2023 Guber: Ours Is To Serve The People – Ashiru

Hon. Isa Ashiru, the People’s Democratic Party’s PDP gubernatorial candidate has said their going to Sir Kashim Ibrahim House if victorious come 2023 polls is to serve the people.

He made this known at the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC secretariat  Kaduna, while presenting his party’s Action plan during an interactive session with respective union leaders from across the state.

Hon Ashiru, a grassroot politician, was there with his team among which was a one time Kaduna state Deputy Governor, Nuhu Bajoga.

According to him, the terrain is such familiar that he already has a laid down action plan that can resuscitate the state’s lost glory.

Lamenting, he said, it is unfortunate that Kaduna state has found itself in a very critical situation. Only when office holders begin to see their positions as temporary will they think positively towards enhancing the lives of thier citizens. He stated.

The former member House of Rep. while acknowleding that times have been rough,  promised to by the special grace of God, make things  bounce back again.

” Very soon, you will begin to see action from our side.”

The party has five points agenda with security topping the list.

Globally, drug and narcotic are the major causative agents of insecurity. This government is out to address this issue of drug menance and we intend to give it priority. Once you solve this, you’re 50%  ahead of solving the problem.

On education, the type of education to be adopted will be skill based in order to open up job opportunities instead of waiting for white collar jobs.

Hon. Ashiru commended the APC national for pursuing the ICT program which he said his administration will give prominence.

“APC has done well at the national level in the area of ICT. We have to be fair to them in that direction. We definitely will pursue same to make sure that we mop up those battalions of unemployed youth found all over the place.”

Agriculture being the largest employment of labour he said will be given adequate attention.  Government is supposed to invest in agriculture and not to remove the subsidy on agriculture as such does not augur well for the sector. Research as well as irrigation scheme will be encouraged to further give it a boost.

Another area of concern is the health sector which he said will be looked into with a view to providing necessary equipment.

“Our intention is to serve, not to be served. We will do all that is humanly possible to better the lives of our people”. He assured.

Kaduna state PDP Chairman, Hon. Felix Hayet while thanking NLC council for the warm reception and the opportunity to present their program reiterated the commitment of the party to move the state forward.

Earlier in his opening remark, Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress NLC Comrade Ayuba Suleiman while expressing concern over the deplorable condition NLC Kaduna finds itself said labour is taking the bull by the horns by actively involving itself in politics.
Though workers are not supposed to be partisan but this time around, it has decided to be partisan to better the lives of members. They have to be actively involved in politics for their voices to be heard. He sounded.
“We are not ready to loose any of our members again as a council, as congress. What we want is our job security, what we want is a prompt payment of our salaries, what we want is prompt payment of pensions and gratuities to the good workers that served the state diligently after retirement.

Also speaking, Chairman, Political Committee explained that the committee is born out of necessity while promising to remain focused in attaining the purpose for which it is created.

Responding to the issue of women tabled by the Chairperson, Nigeria Labour Congress, Women’s Wing, Mrs. Matha Banki who wanted to know the readiness of the PDP’s administration on gender balance if victorious come 2023 elections, women he said would have their fair share as everything is being done to ensure that they are being taken cared of.

“Small medium scale enterprises will be encouraged, will create an enabling environment for them to survive. His administration he assured will carry women along.

Speaking on labour matters, Hon. Ashiru promised to have a cordial relationship with the labour force in Kaduna state.

“We are partners in progress. There will be a way to surmount problems and will see that together we will find out areas of intervention”. He also promised to do something with regards to being at par with their counterpart colleagues in other states.

The Guber candidate has assured citizens of an inclusive system of government. He  noted that the state is in a pathetic situation. He therefore called for a collective efforts for the state to move forward.

 saying, ” We have to do the needful at the right time. lf we don’t wake up to do the needful, the state might collapse.”
