NASFAT Doka branch touches lives, Organizes Eye Screening Exercise for members, non members

Natrul Lahi – L- Fatih Society, NASFAT Kaduna Doka branch has organized an eye screening exercise to better the lives of its members.
The exercise which is in fulfillment of one of the society’s cardinal points of ensuring the well being of its people the branch deemed fit considering the importance of the eyes

The human eye is a sensory organ, part  of the sensory nervous system, that reacts to visible light and allows humans to use visual information for various purposes including seeing things, keeping balance, and maintaining circadian rhythm.

Dr. Oladigbolu Kehinde, eye  specialist explains further.

“The eyes are very important sensitive and the most important organs of the body.

We all need vision to function normally, to read, and move around your environment. So, it is important that everyone should take care of his/her eyes.

 If you have complain, don’t self medicate. Don’t apply unknown medication to your eyes. Try and go to the hospital so that you see eye professionals for proper examination and treatment.

“And the elderly as you get old you develop refractive error. Get glasses to read, go to the hospital, let your eyes be checked. Don’t go and buy glasses by the road side or market. It can spoil your eyes go to the hospital and get tested.” He advised.

Presbyopia is a refractive error that makes it hard for middle-aged and older adults to see things up close. It happens because the lens (an inner part of the eye that helps the eye focus) stops focusing light correctly on the retina (a light-sensitive layer of tissue at the back of the eye).

Speaking on what informed the eye screening exercise, Vice Chairman Doka Branch, Abdulateef Lare Jimoh said.
“One of the programmes of NASFAT has to do with taking care of the health of our members. It is one of our principles that the health of our people is so paramount and so important to us.
So, we deemed it fit to bring the services to the doorsteps of our members, some non members inclusive.
So with this, we believe that the vulnerable people amongst us, the aged people, the old people, those that are unable to access good medical checkup will benefit.
As to whether the exercise is going to be a continuous one,
” Of course, is going to be a continuous exercise. Every year, we will be conducting this exercise Insha Allah.
I will advise our members to take good care of themselves, take care of their sense of sight very well. Eat properly because one of the things that actually affects our eyes has to do with what we consume, the environment and the way and manner we abuse our eyes.
Using phones the abusive way, watching television the abusive way, all contribute.
We  should stick to the advice of the doctors.
In his lecture on the care  of the body, the branch Missioner, Ustaz Kabir Uthman also encouraged members on adequate care of the eyes and  should always seek doctor’s advise at all times.

Beneficiaries of the exercise  appreciating NASFAT’s contributions to the welfare of its members thanked the leadership of the branch, Hon Musbau Adepoju for deeming it fit extending the exercise to its immediate community.
