According to Dr. Ayelangbe, Yorubas should be weary of paid speeches and calls for disintegration because this is not in the best interest of the nation.  He advised political leaders to know that they came into power through the votes of not only their tribes men, so they should roll out programmes that will better the lots of all and sundry.

“As we are gradually stepping into the next political dispensation, I want all of us to ‘shine our eyes’ as we elect the right choice of people to lead us.  As we can see today, we’ve been cut off from our people back at home because our roads are not motor able. We therefore call on the ruling party and government to see to the quick repairs of these roads so as to curb the incessant accidents and deaths witnessed on these roads on daily basis.

“We equally want our government to develop a holistic approach to youth unemployment which accounts for turbulence and violence in our nation.  The government must try other methods of job creation other than the entrepreneurial approach presently being deployed to solve this problem.

“As there cannot be meaningful development in the absence of peace, I implore our Executives to join hand with other arms of government to address the various bad activities that threaten peace and peaceful coexistence in our nation.

“I personally on behalf of the Yoruba Community Northern States and FCT applaud our fearless Governor, His Excellency Nasir El-Rufai for the steps being taken to return Kaduna to the part of peace even with the recent inauguration of the Kaduna State Peace Commission chaired by Bishop Idowu Fearon,” he said.

Dr. Ayelangbe added that the 2017 Yoruba Day is unique because it is a day set aside to remember the demise of the late President General of the Community, Chief Abdulganiyu Oguntoyinbo, whom he described as an illustrious son who contributed enormously to the unity of the Yorubas in the North.

“He paddled the canoe of Yoruba Community Northern States by making inroads into terrains that is considered unassailable. Baba was a man with good human managerial acumen who spends and spent for the unification of the Yorubas in this part of the nation.  Pa Oguntoyinbo has left a big shoe that only God can give us match able feet to fit in,

“As the man who is stepping into this big shoe however, I crave your unalloyed support and prayers as I strive to build on the good legacy left behind by my former leader whom I fondly refer to as ‘Egbon’.  I believe the only thing I can do to immortalize this great man is to work assiduously for the cause he believes in and making sure his unfulfilled visions are attained and new legacies set,” he said.
